Many times translation service companies just translate the words leaving you with a product that’s just not right or at minimum difficult to work with. At Linguistic Solutions we cover all the bases by translating the meaning, not just the words on the page. Our translators aren’t just experts in the field of translation but most often are experts in your business too.

Flashcards and Characters

USC Chinese Group Character Project

"A limited, but useful list of characters showing in animation the stroke orders and radicals"

Most Frequently Used Chinese Characters

"This site has flaschcards specifically for Integrated Chinese lessons (which we are not using). If you sign up and pay a very small fee you may be able to make your own sets of flashcards.

"At the bottom of the page, click on either link to 'top 1000', then scroll down to a yellow bar that says 'Series'. By 'Integrated Chinese', choose level 1 or 2, click 'Go', then your chapter."

On-line Chinese Tools

"This site has the top 1000 characters in groups of 100 (by frequency); they do not necessarily follow your text's order of introduction, and no stats are given.

"Two thirds of the way down the page, under the red bar, click on 'ChineseFlashcards', then choose which group of hundred characters you want to work on. You can click on several groups."

Learn Chinese Characters

"A very educated site."

The most common Chinese characters

"This page has a list of the top 3000 characters in frequency order. Nothing for you to do. This is a massive site with lots of stuff on other pages, including a list of Chinese surnames, and some 'character trees' that are interesting to study (but won't help you pass tests)."

Character Conversion

DimSum Chinese Language Tool

"Download the Dimsum program and you can copy character texts and convert them from traditional to simplified and viceversa, or either to pinyin. When in characters, you can pass the cursor over them to get a superimposed image box with the pinyin pronunciation and a gloss for each character. Copy and paste back and forth to add pinyin to your documents."

Book of Mormon

Annotated Chinese Book of Mormon

"Read the entire Book of Mormon presented here with pinyin above the characters. Copy and paste into Dimsum to gloss the characters you don't know."

Music

The Chinese Outpost | A Language Learning and Culture Site

"You can listen to 1/2 hour of traditional Chinese music. It loops so will play forever and drive you crazy eventually, but this is nice to get you in the mood to study. There are also lots of other interesting pages. Under the banner heading, click on the little 'music' bar, then click on 'Start the Music'."

"Animated stroke orders with sound. What's nice is that the animation is slow; it also teaches you the names of the strokes. Not so nice is that you have to find the characters yourself."

Chinese Fables

"Chengyu and fables to listen to and answer questions. Great advanced listening!"

"Huge site with lots of good information."
